13 Year-Old Strip-Searched For possible Posession of Ibuprofen: and the school is appealing the lawsuit they lost?

Posted by Bill Nance on January 16, 2009

I don’t post much on the subject of stupid school administrators for essentially two reasons: One; the fodder is so common (Almost the rule it seems) and Two; my blood pressure can’t take it.

But I’ll make an exception for the case of then 13-year-old Savana Redding, an honor student at Safford Middle School, about 127 miles from Tucson, Arizona.

In 2003 a student was found with ibuprofen (oh, the horrors)! The student, under threats of God-only-knows what, said she had obtained the ibuprofen from Savanna, her classmate. After a search of her locker and backpack (as if that’s not bad enough with no warrant or probable cause) the MALE school teacher, along with the assistant principle and a teacher’s aide, both females, strip searched this little girl, including pulling her bra to peek inside.

Folks, this is called child abuse. There is no other term for it. And the fact that the County Attorney didn’t immediately file criminal charges against these perverts speaks volumes for what’s wrong with our judicial system. (I hasten to add, had the girl texted photos of herself in this state of undress to a boy, the prosecutor would no doubt have been Johnny-On-The-Spot with charges of child pornography).

It’s too bad this happened, it’s also too bad the girl didn’t scream rape, kick the teacher in the balls and scratch the eyes out of the two females.

It’s also very fortunate for all three of these idiots that this wasn’t my daughter. I’ve never hit a woman in my life, but I’d be happy to make an exception for these idiots, and the male teacher would get the ass-kicking of the century. Frankly that’s a far better lesson than a court case.

The case is now up before the Supreme Court of the United States. If they rule that this is permissible, I urge any and all of you with children to keep them home indefinitely or to switch them to a private school where you can be assured no such thing will occur. Maybe losing out on enough funding from having no children present will make the schools finally grasp that they are not police, jailers or narcotics agents. Maybe they could also learn to do something really complicated when there’s a problem: like calling the child’s parents before they strip search a 13 year-old little girl.

OMG! This was done to this 13 year old child for thinking she MAY HAVE HAD DRUGS ON HER? But they had had no prior problems with this child! I do not think so! And most of all for having an over counter drug for pain! Now I sure hope this girl wins in court. These school teachers are really something today. Here is a good example…Parents are not allowed to lay on hand or finger on their own child as if they do the law will be after them so fast and their butts will be in jail so fast. Child services will not take any kind of this from a parent let alone any other adult touching a child.SO WHERE WAS CHILD SERVICES when this was done?????? OOPS! Excuse me this was a school so I guess they can touch a child and most of all a child they had never had a problem with let a lone a drug problem. Who the heck does these schools think they are? From what I understand these schools are to have girls carry clear plastic purses and they also have a police officer to scan the cildren comming into the school so I guess this is not a high crime school if not.SO if not a high crime school then why did they think this girl even had drugs at all? There is no excuse at all for what went on here. They could of held the girl in the office with her not being left out of their site and called the parents into the school and let them know what is going on. Then the parents would have oked the strip search or not and if it was my child I would have never oked that and most of all if my child had never been in trouble for this before. I would have had my lawyer on that phone so fast and maybe I would be in jail by now my self for what I would have done to all these people who had done this to my child. THERE IS NO WAY IF A PARENT IS NOT ALLOWED TO PUT A HAND ON A CHILD OF THEIR OWN THEN A SCHOOL SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO EITHER. How do these parents know if these people at this school was not going to try to rape this young girl? Women or not!Oh this is just something else and I hope these people take this to the highest court and win! I have to get off the soap box now as this makes me so angry! My best wishes go out to this Girl and her family. Stay on this so it does not happen to anyone elese child. And everyone I hope you teach your children if this happens to them scream rape right away! I do believe schools should not be allowed to teach children RAPE IN SCHOOLS TODAY. And that is just what they have done here in my eyes. Anyone that is a treacher or any school employee that thinks what happened here is ok ..I have news for you all it is not! I would be in jail right now if this was my child as it would be awful what I’d have done to these people!

      Yes, I agree it’s awful.

It’s clear to me that criminal charges against the school officials would have been appropriate. The degree to which our children are being managed, over-policed and treated as criminals is deeply disturbing. What’s just as disturbing to me is the damage this does to our kids, essentially preparing them to accept a police state.
