The Eclectic One

…Because labels are a poor substitute for thinking

Some Irony

Posted by Bill Nance on September 4, 2008

When you’re talking up reform in Washington DC, is it wise to have in your major line-up of speakers the former CEO of Hewlitt Packard, now a McCain campaign member, and the CEO of EBay, a billionaire corporate executive?

I mean here are the Democrats, talking very effectively to Americans about their grasp of how hard the economic times are.  In contrast, the Republicans field a line-up of some of the richest people in the country, including CEOs who have publicly opposed closing loopholes which encourage off-shoring of American jobs.

We just had eight years of giant corporate interests having a virtual cabinet position in the Bush administration. McCain is going to “reform this?” With these people in charge of the show?

-Seems a reasonable question to ask.
