The Eclectic One

…Because labels are a poor substitute for thinking

Creeping Fascism Watch

Imagine this: Little Johnny and and Sue (about 8 years-old) need some money for the movies.

They ask you for the cash, but you’d like to teach them some self-reliance and entrepreneurship, so you suggest they open a lemonade stand. You offer to help make brownies too, and send them on their merry little way to make a buck and learn a little about market capitalism.

Sounds like a terrific idea, right? Apple Pie and Mom stuff, right?

Some jack-booted thug overzealous police officer shuts them down because “they don’t have a permit.” WTF?

Let me say that again: WHAT THE $%)(& !!??

I used to cover the police beat for a newspaper. I have a very high opinion of cops. They do a lousy, sometimes dangerous, and completely essential job for all of us. But that doesn’t mean they all get a free pass to be ASSHOLES.

Full story here. Be sure to watch the video, it’s more in-depth than the print version.
